The Learning Disabilities Association of Kingston invites students with learning disabilities, parents/caregivers and teachers to participate in our FREE webinar: Making Successful Transitions in Education for Students with LDs.


Join Learning Strategist, Gail Eaton-Smith (full bio below), for knowledge, tools and strategies students can use to adjust and thrive while making educational transitions. We will focus on transitions between in-person and remote learning at all ages in the current context of Covid-19, and life after high school / moving to post-secondary education.


What to expect as a participant in this webinar:

  1. Understand, identify and learn to navigate key changes in the academic, social and physical learning environments.

  2. What to expect as a student transitioning to life after high school / post-secondary education, and strategies for remote learning at all ages; shifting roles, responsibilities and resources.

  3. Skills and self-reflection tools to transition successfully and plan for the future; making decisions that are best for you as the student.


Presenter Bio:

Gail Eaton-Smith is a Learning Strategist, Student Advisor, and the current Coordinator of the Start-UP Transition & Learning Strategies Program at Queen’s University. Gail is formally trained in Special Education and Adaptive Instruction, focusing on support for students with learning disabilities and attention disorders. She has taught in public high school and junior high school classrooms, matched wits with college students, and ran interference between the school system and children with LD/ADD and their families. Gail says she has learned firsthand the strength and resiliency of students with learning disabilities, and she is enthusiastic to offer her support!
