MH1 - How to Have Good Mental Health

Coping with Mental Health Struggles

Having good mental health doesn’t mean there won’t be hard things in your life, or that you won’t be sad, angry, or frustrated sometimes. Having good mental health means that when there are tough events in your life, they don’t become completely overwhelming, but instead, you can cope and get through them. Sometimes that means getting help when you need it. After all, no one is good at everything, and we all need help sometimes. People have different strengths and weaknesses, and when there is something we struggle with because it’s not one of our strengths it’s okay to get help from others.

Build On Your Strengths

A big part of having good mental health is knowing what your strengths are and building them up. When you focus on what you are good at, and what you can do, that can help you see what you have to offer. Building on your strengths also builds confidence and a positive view of yourself. It can make it easier to ask for help in areas where you may be struggling, because you know that you have other strengths.

Knowing your strengths and building self-confidence can prevent you from letting the things that you struggle with bring you down. When you have good support from people who know you, and the help that you need, you can then get through those struggles you face.
